If you have a few extra days, we recommend visiting the Oregon coast, wine tasting in the Willamette Valley. or hiking in the Columbia River Gorge (pro tip: Multnomah Falls will be packed this time of year, so we don't recommend hiking there, just stopping by!).


In Portland, we love visiting the Portland Japanese Garden, the Portland Art Museum, and Powell's Books.


Good streets to spend a few hours strolling, window shopping, and grabbing a meal include NW 23rd/21st, SE Division, SE Hawthorne, and N Mississippi.

Dame - New American + natural wines in a cozy, intimate space. Definitely get the grilled bread!

Dolly Olive - Italian/Mediterranean, delicious pastas, meat, and grilled vegetables. One of our go-to dinner restaurants.

Leaky Roof - Our neighborhood brunch spot! Thomas gets the omelet, Mira gets the benedict.

Oma's Hideaway - Malaysian & Singaporean small plates, yummy cocktails, and fun and funky decor.

Scotch Lodge - Whisky bar with excellent food, great cocktails, and a wide liquor selection.

Matador - Mexican with delicious margaritas. Site of our first date!

Kayo Ramen - Ramen, rice bowls, and fusion tacos. Lots of vegetarian options. Site of our second date :)

Clarklewis - Pacific Northwest-inspired, seasonal New American.

Urdaneta - Tapas bar with a large sherry selection.

Luce - Italian, small plates and amazing pasta.

Thai Bloom - Casual Thai with a large menu. Favorites include the fried spring rolls, the drunken noodles, and the spicy basil chicken.

Burrito Azteca - Our favorite hole-in-the-wall Mexican spot (Rosa Parks location). Thomas has been a regular since college!

Nicholas - Lebanese/Mediterranean; we love the mezze plates.

Cheryl's - Downtown brunch - a classic Portland spot. Free beignets with every meal!

Swagat - Our go-to Indian (the NW 21st location).
